Hello and welcome, my name is Barry R Bowen and AutoLISP is my life because it literally changed my life. I went from being an employee for several years, to becoming self employed, writing and marketing my own AutoLISP/Visual LISP based applications which are now being used by thousands of users World Wide.

Before I continue let me say this, please give me your comments and let me know what you like, don’t like or don’t understand on any of these posts.  I want to be helpful as much as possible in order that you can begin to create your own programs to get AutoCAD to do what you want it to.

I began using AutoCAD software with Release 1.2 in may of 1983 In the beginning I did not have any prior programming experience but a desire to learn how to make AutoCAD draw the way I wanted it to and automate all the daily repetitive tasks that were time consuming. I began programming in AutoLISP while working for an Architectural firmin 1985, creating prgrams to do many things that are now built into the current versions of AutoCAD.

I started writing “The AutoLISP Tutorial” for CADalyst magazine in 1988 and continued writing different AutoLISP programming articles for the next 15 years and was an AutoCAD / AutoLISP instructor in the continuing education programs at Memphis State University and State Technical Institute in Memphis. I also wrote several articles on AutoLISP programming for Cadence and Technical Design Solutions Magazines. barry.bowen@softdraft.com

I now am the Vice Chief Manager of SoftDraft LLC which has been an AutoCAD Registered Application Developer for over twelve years.
